About The Game

Defense of the Ancients 2 is a multiplayer action real time strategy game that requires 10 players, 2 teams of 5 to play and the objective is to destroy each others fountain, in order to do this teams must break through 4 tiers of towers and take on waves of creeps also players must level and gear as the game progresses. It is currently in closed beta and being developed by Valve Corporation. 

What I Like About DotA 2

The main thing that makes me literally fall in love with this game is the fact that it is really unique, in that it is in a genre of it's own. I know there are other games that are similar for example League Of Legends but DotA just happens to set the bar with all it's features. I understand that for a game that is designed around the professional gaming scene it is relatively easy to pick up and play but it will require plenty of practice to fully master and understand certain situations.

How Can The Game Improved

This game is still in a closed beta stage and has yet not had a release date and there is plenty of content still to come. This game still has plenty of time for improvement and the developers follow closely to its players and takes a lot of ideas from the community. In my opinion I think this game even though in beta is top notch and has a lot of potential for new players as well as veterans from the previous game.

My Top 3 Tips To New Players

Here are 3 things that I think you should know or practice before jumping straight into the battle, otherwise you might just get flamed a whole bunch.

1. High Learning Curve -  As I mentioned earlier this game is easy to just pick up and play but in you must be really patient, this isn't the sort of game you can go in and just boss from the get go. It does have a huge strategic element to the game.

2. "Last Hitting" - This is one of many technique's in the game and in my opinion this is the most vital. In order to gain any experience points or gold for killing enemy creeps or heroes you must obtain the last hit. This is down by whittling down the creep to a point where you will hit it and the creep will die and you then gain the experience 

3. Learning All The Heroes -  My last tip comes with practice. A knowledge of all the heroes and there respective skills comes in great handy when being matched again a whole array of different opponents. So make sure you understand the hero fully before playing them and do be afraid to ask for a hero that is easier to play than another. Also many hero's grab different items, it's also worth noting that all these items have different effects so learning these to may also be a good idea. The game already comes pre-packed with a "Learn" tab allowing for players to read up on the heroes!

What Features Separate It From Other Games

I find that the biggest thing that separates this game from all others that it is the most unique in ot's genre, it in fact has it's own genre. It also has plenty of features setting it apart from other Moba/Action RTS games, for example denying, couriers. Plenty of features to attract other players from other games to play DotA. I highly recommend this game to anyone, even to just try it you will indeed be wowed!
